2010: Great Things Still to Come?

29 Dec

With the end of 2009 drawing near, I’ve begun creating my new year’s resolutions. One of them is “stop biting nails,” which is on the list every year, along with “go to the gym more” and “don’t smoke so much.” I’m channeling Bridget Jones here!

Another decree is to write more faithfully and remain as productive throughout the coming 365 days. While eagerly waiting to learn if I will be named a quarterfinalist for ME’s Erotica Contest (note to 2010 self: “learn patience”), I have been notified that my poem, “O,” will appear in the January issue of Bare Back Magazine, an online zine, and my story, “Midnight Rodeo,” has been selected for Racy Pages’ “Surprise” anthology.

I’m especially excited to have learned within the past week my story, Coercion, will be released by Lyrical Press! This will be my first full-length novel to be published, and I’m beyond thrilled. I spent this morning pondering the cover art! Shriek! (Another 2010 resolution: “be careful when dancing around the room in unbridled joy, you might break something”).

Have a safe holiday, everyone, and here’s hoping 2010 will be even more exciting!

“Semiprofessional” in the Running for ME’s Quarter Finals

19 Dec

Good news to report on the ME Erotica Writing Contest front — my story, “Semiprofessional,” received the highest ratings for the month of November, thus I am now entered in the running to be a quarter-finalist! This definitely makes the year-long wait to learn the winner of  Mainstream Erotica’s Erotic Stories Writer of the Year award much more bearable, certainly!

So, so, so much thanks to everyone who voted for “Semiprofessional” — I’m so excited and so honored!

NOTE: For those who haven’t yet read “Semiprofessional” and would like to, please click any link mentioned in this post. You will be asked to log in, as you need to sign up for a free ME account. Afterward, revisit the “Semiprofessional” link.

“Love on the Side of the NJ Turnpike” – Review by Aubrie Dionne

4 Dec

Published author Aubrie Dionne wrote a lovely review for my story, “Love on the Side of the NJ Turnpike” (Paper Bag Press 2009) for her blog, Books Reviews by Aubrie.

A highlight (a.k.a., my favorite part!):

Lux Zakari’s writing is sexually and emotionally charged. The dialogue flows naturally and the situation is believable and unique to the genre. This is one fast read that delivers what it promises!
