Racy Pages’ “Surprise”: Table of Contents

31 Mar

The table of contents for Racy Pages’ Surprise anthology, in which my story “Midnight Rodeo” will appear, has been posted. YAY @ page 1. :)

Looking forward to reading all the stories!

Ozami / “This is Not a Love Letter”

29 Mar

Every now and then I like to Google myself, and today I found this link in a forum on Ozami.net, where someone reposted my story This is Not a Love Letter, which was first published on the Web site The Erotic Woman. I have pretty much no idea what’s going on, but I enjoy the succinct, positive comment at the bottom. :)

The Internet is a weird, unfathomable place!

What Is Foxy: 1

28 Mar

What is foxy? For one, it’s a word I enjoy saying. Second, it describes the sights, sounds, etc. I enjoy coming across. Beauty is in the details — my friend and I discerned this when, during dull business hours, we compiled a list of things certain guys can do that would be oddly attractive.  This ranges anywhere from boys in Hawaii during the 1970s wearing shark-tooth necklaces to a guy sauntering into a convenient store, retrieving a bottle of soda from the sliding-door freezer and paying for it  (with cash, not an ATM card!) before walking out and saying “‘Preciate it.” Yes, this list is that specific and awesome.

Enough rambling, however. What is foxy today on Sunday the 28th? I’m inclined to say Julian Casablancas’ moppy hair in his video for 11th Dimension, especially coupled with his moody brown eyes and pillowy lips. Purr!

I also appreciate how the girl in the video actually looks like someone I’d see in an ’80s movie.

Happenings

24 Mar

Despite being on the receiving end of an annoying bout of laryngitis, the world, to zero surprise, continues on! Some new developments:

  • I received my first batch of edits for Coercion from my editor, Pam! This is quite exciting and I can’t wait to delve into them. I feel a lot has changed for me from the time I submitted the manuscript so I’ll be viewing the story differently, and being an editor myself and working with talented authors has honed my own editing and writing skills so I can see my work more objectively. I look forward to tearing the story apart—at least a bit.
  • This past weekend I chatted with Valerie, the cover artist for Coercion. It was really interesting seeing her visual interpretation of the story, and made me think, “Wow, this is how some readers will picture the hero and heroine.” Not that I’d go so far to call them “the hero” and “the heroine”—rather, “the foxy antagonist” and “the leading lady with a hard lesson in store.” (The latter might be a bit verbose, but as for the former, I always look for an excuse to use the word “foxy.”) Anyway! Valerie was very sweet and I enjoy her work, so in short: I’m excited about the cover!
  • Look for one of my short stories, The Girl in the Red Coat, to appear on the Web site, The Erotic Woman! More details to come.
  • I will be reviewing the Blueberry Bliss for Oysters & Chocolate! More details (that may be TMI) to come on that as well.
  • The author interviews are going swimmingly. Peruse them by visiting the Author Interviews links section down and to the right of this post. More interviews are on the horizon as well. If you’re an author who’d like to participate in a brief interview or have some kind of promotional trade-off, that would be wonderful! You can e-mail me at luxzakari@gmail.com and we will work something out.

And now to daintily guzzle more throat-soothing tea,
