Interview: T. Harrison

Today’s installment of the Dirtyville/Kinkyville interview series features T.Harrison, author of The Good Wife in the Dirtyville collection. She shares with us the inspiration behind her story, how she creates characters and her upcoming works.

LUX ZAKARI: What initially prompted you to submit your story for the Dirtyville collection?

T. HARRISON: I was fortunate enough to witness the birth of the anthology on Twitter. Sommer Marsden is known for saying that her mind can go from zero to dirty in mere seconds, and that day we were all on the train to Dirtyville. Several of us chimed in that it would be a get name for an antho and thus… Dirtyville was born.

I didn’t begin writing The Good Wife until she put out the submission call. Then I labored over whether it would fit with the small town idea. I was surprised and honored to be included in the anthology.

LZ: What inspired the premise for The Good Wife?

TH: I live in South Carolina, and if you follow the news at all, you’re aware of our governor Mark Sanford’s *ahem* indiscretions. I just thought it would be fun to add a little D/s element to it.

LZ: What is one of your favorite stories in either the Dirtyville or Kinkyville collection and why?

TH: I don’t like to choose favorites, but I am quite fond of City Different’s Grip in Dirtyville and Charlotte Stein’s Crazed in the Kinkyville antho.

LZ: Why are those your favorites?

TH: I like the quiet, sultry feeling of City Different’s piece. It sparks a bit of nostalgia in me for some reason I’ve yet to pinpoint. I like Charlotte’s for just the opposite reason. In just a few words, she captured the feeling of that bored housewife driven insane by her tedious day-to-day who suddenly finds herself caught up in affair. I love how it’s told in a rush because that’s the only way secrets should be revealed, you know.

LZ: How do you go about creating and naming your characters?

TH: My characters tend to pop up fully formed with a name and a story before I ever begin writing. The particularly annoying ones camp out by my bed at night or yak away next to me in the car. If you see me driving and texting, you can blame one of them. I’m probably shooting myself a quick e-mail so I remember something they said!

LZ: What can readers expect from you next?

TH: Right now, I have a novella published on Kindle titled LoveWanderLust. You can purchase it for $0.99 or can read it for free at love-wander-lust.blogspot.com. Chapters 1 through 9 are up now.

Early next year, my erotic romance In Your Closet will be pubbed with eXcessica! Super excited about that!

LZ: Can you tell readers a little bit about LoveWanderLust and In Your Closet?

TH: LoveWanderLust is one of the first things I wrote two years ago when I decided to take this writing thing seriously. The main character, Joaquin, has begun to notice that he’s missing large chunks of time. Luckily (or unluckily, lol), he’s meeting women who can help him fill in the blanks.

In Her Closet is my full-length erotic romance novel that will be published with eXessica in 2011. Here’s the blurb:

Fresh off of a night of anonymous sex, we join sex and lifestyle columnist, Yves Santiago, on the curb for a cigarette. Yves is a self-proclaimed slut who vows to live her life as carelessly as a man and make no apologies for any of it—though her meddling mother, psycho ex-fiancé seem intent on making it difficult for her to do so. An enamored young artist determined to be more than a one- night stand and a talented Domina who is swears that she will get what she wants from Yves by any means necessary make the task near impossible. Even considering all that, Yves is mostly successful at avoiding anything that looks even remotely like love, escaping most encounters with her heart and her pride intact—at least until she meets Elijah Weinstein.

Elijah saunters in like a dream, proclaiming to be the next great love of her life—a declaration that Yves ridiculous, though it doesn’t make him any less enticing. With his mossy green eyes, broad, sun-kissed shoulders and a mouth so damn sensual that it should have an NC-17 rating, Elijah Weinstein is damn near irresistible. She willingly accepts his challenge, certain she be able to claim his cock without relinquishing her heart.
